Steffi and Christian have left an incredible and unforgettable impression in Uganda, bringing so much joy to the children and to Irene and Dickson on behalf of Help for a Smile. Carla is 6 years old and one of our youngest supporters! Carla had the great idea to build a well. Until recently, there was no piped water in Mbale; instead, it had to be carried every morning in canisters and buckets from a water source about 1.5 km away. On foot!

Steffi and Christian flew to Entebbe on August 21 to spend a week with "our" children. Their luggage contained not only many toys, clothing for the children, two donated laptops, and small and large surprises for our young and old friends in Uganda, but also a "Kids' Olympiad" specifically created and prepared by Steffi. The last of a total of four packages containing donations in kind from Globetrotter was shipped to Uganda in June. The donations include items of clothing and shoes that the children can put to very good use.

We received an email from Dickson (Irene's son) with great photos and a short video. The children are currently on school holidays and are staying with Irene. Thanks to your membership fees and donations, Irene was able to organize a wonderful day at a "play paradise" for our protégés. This was a very special highlight for the children!! We’re off! For the first time, Help for a Smile e.V. is featured with a project on betterplace—thanks to the idea and commitment of our members, who have specifically asked not to be named (preferring instead to modestly keep promoting our project :)). We are excited and very grateful for all the attention our project—and thus our protégés in Uganda—is receiving!
