In August 2014, we—Ines Schultz and Bettina Köhn, as chairwomen of "Help for a Smile e.V."—traveled to Uganda for two weeks as volunteers. For Bettina, it was her third visit to the helping people in Uganda, while for Ines, it was a completely new experience in an African country.

We ensure that the children and young people are guaranteed basic care, including fresh food, water, and medical services. Furthermore, we strive to ensure that these children and young people can grow up in a safe home and a secure environment.
We believe that education is the essential factor for the open-minded, free, and democratic development of a country and its people. We want to ensure that the children are provided with a continuous and complete school education, thereby creating the foundation for them to build independent and self-determined lives.
