Patrick and Derrick reunite with their mother

We would like to share the great joy of two of our boys from Uganda with you! The mother of Derrick and Patrick was released early at the end of April 2020. The reason for this was the spread of the coronavirus. For Eunice—Derrick and Patrick’s mother—and of course for the boys themselves, a dream came true. She had been incarcerated in Luzira Prison. She is currently staying with her sister in the capital, Kampala. Irene has now organized a meeting between Eunice and her sons, Derrick and Patrick. Since Eunice does not yet have a source of income and first needs to find accommodation, Derrick and Patrick will remain in Irene’s care for the time being. The responsibility for their children often causes fear for most ex-prisoners; therefore, Irene is first giving her time to settle in. In this short video, Eunice thanks Irene and Help for a Smile for their support!! At this point, we would like to explicitly thank Irene, who—on the ground in Uganda—makes it possible for children and mothers to have a future once again.
