On 18 April, we – represented by Ines – attended the Georg Kraus Foundation’s network meeting in Hagen. This annual gathering provides an important forum for discussion, networking amongst initiatives run predominantly by volunteers, and joint reflection on project work. The focus was on: – Project presentations from Uganda, Kenya and Cambodia, amongst others – Issues of participation, understanding of roles and responsibility – Awareness-raising, public relations and educational work (presentation by Georg Krämer, Welthaus Bielefeld) Particularly enriching were the open and sometimes controversial discussions on how cooperation with partners in the Global South can be structured in a spirit of partnership and in line with needs. Conclusion: less control, more participation.
Many thanks to the Georg Kraus Foundation for this inspiring conference and the unique opportunity for exchange and networking. We warmly congratulate the Foundation on its 30th anniversary!
