Newsletter II in 2020 from ‘Help for a smile e.V.’
Dear members and friends of Help for a Smile,
We sincerely hope that you are all in good health and staying positive despite the current restrictions. As Uganda is also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are in close contact with Irene and Dickson.
Since March 20, schools and universities in Uganda have been closed for at least 30 days. There are extensive restrictions on public life. Within just two days, Irene and Dickson organized the return of all children from their boarding schools. In addition, preparations had to be made in Mbale for the coming weeks, meaning that extra food, medicine, books, and other supplies are needed.
Irene asked us for help. Thanks to your incredible support through membership fees and donations, we were able to act quickly and provide the necessary additional funds! Irene is very relieved, as this allows her to care for the children without financial worries.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Everyone is doing well. Four children have been brought back to their families to reduce the group size of over 20 people in Mbale. Irene remains in regular contact with them.
You can find Irene’s full message about the current situation in Mbale and what the children are doing during these unexpected holidays in the attached PDF document.
Please stay healthy and positive!
Warm regards,
Your Board of Help for a Smile e.V.
Thomas, Ines, Anette, and Bettina
